Right then film fans, we’ve been working on a few moving image gems as you know, but our love for the pictures does not stop at making. We love to watch too, and Vivid have been kind enough to let us borrow their building and help us run a film night. Details below:

The Garage Presents…The Neighbourhood Watch.

On the last Wednesday of each month, VIVID hosts The Neighbourhood Watch, an open submission film night devised and developed by The Neighbourhood (www.theneighbourhood.org).

Unlike most screening nights The Neighbourhood will accept films completely blind. Due to the revolutionary nature of this epic film fantasia, we’ve formulated a set of eight (not ten) ‘The Neighbourhood Watch’ commandments:

1)     You shall not submit a film any longer than five minutes.

2)     Films must be have been made quite recently. Let’s say within the last six months.

3)     Any genre of film shall be accepted, provided all rights to screen are owned by the filmmaker.

4)     Slots shall be filled on a delightfully clichéd first-come-first-served basis. Filmmakers must register their submission by emailing contact@theneighbourhood.org no later than 22nd June 2011.

5)     All filmmakers must attend, and shall be required to talk about their submission following the screening.

6)     The order in which films are screened shall be selected at random, from an oversized hat.

7)     There shall be a prize for the film deemed best of the night.

8)     A humiliating forfeit shall be issued if any of these rules are broken.

Following the shorts, a specially selected mini-feature curated in conjunction with KINO 10 (www.kino10.com) will be screened to crown the evening.

The first ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ takes place on Wednesday 29 June, 7-10pm and is repeated on the final Wednesday of each month (Wed 27 July, Wed 31 Aug, submission calls to follow). Admission is charged at £2 and includes popcorn and a drink. Feel free to bring your own refreshments (and a bottle opener).

The Garage presents… is a brand new strand of one off events at VIVID embracing music, live arts, installation, performance, digital and sonic media. Check www.vivid.org.uk for details of all ‘Garage Presents’ projects.

So. Email. Register. Let’s watch some films!
